Rotimi Abayomi Defects to ADC Amid Leadership Crisis

Rotimi Abayomi, a presidential aspirant, has announced his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) despite the party's ongoing leadership crisis. In an interview with Channels Television's Sunrise Daily, he stated that the ADC is not entirely flawed and that the leadership crisis is self-inflicted, suggesting it can be resolved with the right decisions.

Abayomi emphasized the importance of effective party function and criticized unidentified individuals who belittle others within the party. Concurrently, the ADC youth wing issued a three-day ultimatum to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), warning that failure to comply with electoral mandates could lead to peaceful protests across the country, including the occupation of INEC offices in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The ADC's national youth leader accused INEC of acting outside its constitutional mandate, which he believes undermines democratic institutions. The leadership crisis within the ADC was traced back to a national executive committee meeting held on July 29, 2025, which resulted in the dissolution of its national working committee.
