Pantami Wins PDP Governorship Ticket for Gombe State

Isa Ali Pantami, the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has been affirmed as the sole candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket in Gombe State for the 2027 elections. This announcement was made on Tuesday by Gregori Yenlong, the chairman of the PDP electoral panel, during the party's affirmation exercise.

Pantami received a total of 52,955 votes across the three senatorial districts: Gombe North (16,781), Gombe Central (12,752), and Gombe South (23,422). In his acceptance speech, Pantami expressed his commitment to addressing the high poverty levels in Gombe State, which is currently ranked as the third poorest state in Nigeria, with a multidimensional poverty index of approximately 74.5%.

He emphasized the need for investment in education, agriculture, and industrialization, and pledged to establish public-private partnerships to enhance social welfare initiatives. Pantami also called for unity and equal treatment among the residents of the 11 local government areas in Gombe State.
