Postecoglou Justifies Ronaldo's Half-Time Substitution

Al-Nassr manager Ange Postecoglou substituted Cristiano Ronaldo at half-time during a match against Al-Ettifaq, where Al-Nassr was trailing 2-0 and down to 10 men. Ronaldo, 41, made his first start since the World Cup but left the pitch visibly frustrated.

Postecoglou stated that he believed the substitutes could make a greater impact, which proved correct as Al-Nassr staged a remarkable comeback, with Sadio Mane and Abdulelah Al Amri scoring within three minutes to equalize, followed by Mane's second goal in added time, leading to a 3-2 victory. Postecoglou praised Ronaldo's first-half performance and noted that every substitute contributed positively to the comeback.

This victory marked Al-Nassr's third consecutive win, placing them at the top of the Saudi Pro League table. Postecoglou, who took charge of Al-Nassr last month, previously managed Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.

Ronaldo's participation comes during what may be his final season as he considers retirement to spend more time with family.
