Postecoglou: Coaching Ronaldo Key to Joining Al Nassr
Ange Postecoglou was appointed as the manager of Al Nassr in July 2023 on a two-year contract following the departure of Jorge Jesus, who became the head coach of Portugal. Postecoglou, 61, revealed that the chance to coach Cristiano Ronaldo significantly influenced his decision to join the Saudi Arabian club.
In an interview on the LiSTNR podcast The Howie Games, he expressed his desire to be a part of Ronaldo's journey, similar to his past experiences with legendary players like Ferenc Puskas, Tim Cahill, and Son Heung-min. Postecoglou has started the 2026-27 season unbeaten and was named the Saudi Pro League Manager of the Month for August.
He aims to lead Al Nassr in defending their Saudi league title while also pursuing their first-ever Asian Champions League Elite crown.
