Adekunle Gold on Genotype Compatibility with Simi

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold revealed during a podcast that he would not have married his wife, Simi, if she had an SS or AS genotype. He explained that they conducted a genotype test before their marriage, confirming that Simi is AA.

Adekunle Gold expressed concerns about the potential challenges their children could face if they had a genotype combination that could lead to sickle cell disease. He stated, “I don’t think it makes sense to bring a child into this world and make them go through all that.” The couple has been married since 2019, and Adekunle Gold emphasized the significance of genotype compatibility for couples planning to have children, as certain combinations can increase the risk of having a child with sickle cell disease.
