Zuby Michael on Lack of Support for Igbo Talents

Nollywood actor Zuby Michael explained in an interview with Broadway TV why Igbos receive limited support from industry gatekeepers and executives. He stated that these individuals are often hesitant to support Igbo talents due to concerns that they might outshine their mentors.

Michael noted that Igbo people are quick learners and can achieve significant success with minimal guidance. He remarked, “You might decide to mentor an Igbo person and what took you 10 years to learn, he will learn it in one year and six months.” He further elaborated that if treated poorly, an Igbo mentee may leave and become a competitor, which causes fear among industry executives, including some Igbos, about being betrayed by their mentees.
