Alia Vows to Protect Benue Land from Herders

On Tuesday, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State declared his administration's firm stance against ceding any part of the state to herders, emphasizing the commitment to defeat insecurity and uphold the state's territorial integrity. This declaration was made during the opening day of his five-day statewide Thank-You Tour, where he addressed stakeholders from Sankera, Kwande, and Jechira federal constituencies.

Alia pledged to protect the lives, property, and ancestral lands of the people of Benue. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening the state's security architecture, particularly through the establishment of the Nigerian Army 5 Division in Benue.

During the tour, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and political stakeholders presented demands for peace restoration and improved local governance. Former Governor Gabriel Suswam expressed support for Alia's re-election and President Tinubu's return in 2027.

The tour will continue with engagements in Buruku and Gboko, focusing on security, governance, and development across all 11 federal constituencies.
