Datti Warns Against Lack of Northern Support for Obi/Kwankwaso

Datti, the former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, articulated concerns regarding the potential lack of support for the Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket in Northern Nigeria as the 2027 general elections approach. In an interview with Symfoni TV, Datti emphasized the importance of Obi establishing alliances with key Northern politicians, including Kwankwaso and Nasir El-Rufai, to strengthen his political position.

He highlighted the necessity for Obi to begin this process well in advance of the elections, which are scheduled for January 31, 2024. Datti noted that the current political landscape requires a clear long-term strategy, especially considering past electoral failures.

He also critiqued Obi's handling of issues within the Labour Party, particularly regarding the candidacy and security of the party's ticket, indicating that internal problems need to be addressed to ensure a successful campaign.
