NPFL Fines Kano Pillars ₦15 Million for Misconduct

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has fined Kano Pillars ₦15 million due to multiple severe breaches of conduct during their fixture against Rivers United last weekend. The league found the club guilty of poor security, pitch invasions, and harassment of match officials.

As a result, Kano Pillars will serve a three-match ban behind closed doors for their next home games, which will carry over into the next season. The club has 48 hours to appeal the charges.

The incidents included an attack on the central referee, which caused delays and threatened to abandon the match. Former Super Eagles captain Ahmad Musa and teammate Rabiu Ali intervened to persuade the referee to continue the game.

Previously, Kano Pillars had already suffered a deduction of three points this season, raising expectations of further sanctions. The breakdown of the fine includes ₦4 million for failure to provide adequate security, ₦3 million for unsporting behavior, ₦3 million for failing to control supporters, ₦3 million for gross misconduct towards match officials, and ₦2 million for match disruption.
