Edo Government Critiques Peter Obi's Political Role

The Edo State government, through Kassim Afegbua, expressed concerns regarding Peter Obi's influence in the political arena, labeling him a destabilizing figure. During an interview on Channels Television, Afegbua discussed the crises that often accompany Obi's political engagements, particularly referencing an alleged assassination attempt on him.

He noted that Obi's previous visit to Edo State followed political unrest and criticized his exit from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amid factional disputes. Afegbua argued that Obi's actions demonstrate a lack of leadership capacity to resolve internal conflicts within the party.

He further cautioned that Edo State should not become embroiled in the internal conflicts of political parties, emphasizing that the fallout from such political activities should not be attributed to the state.
