Justice Salami Critiques Peter Obi's 2023 Candidacy

Justice Ayo Salami, a former President of the Court of Appeal, expressed his opinion that Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, should not have been permitted to contest in the 2023 presidential election on the Labour Party platform. Salami made these remarks during a briefing with journalists in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday.

He highlighted that Obi's departure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) before the Labour Party submitted its candidate list to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) raised constitutional concerns. Salami emphasized that Obi's candidacy was inappropriate since he had left the PDP prior to the Labour Party's submission of its candidate list.

He also referenced a broader issue regarding the registration of party members, citing a situation involving the governor of Kano State, who defected to the APC but was not registered with the NNPP. Salami criticized the judicial system, attributing poor judgments to incompetence and inadequate training among judges.
