Peter Obi Displeased with Opposition Summit Outcomes

Peter Obi, a prominent political figure, was not pleased with the outcomes of the opposition summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, which was chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and included leaders like Atiku Abubakar and Seyi Makinde. The summit aimed to unify opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections and resulted in a communiqué that proposed a single presidential candidate.

However, Obi left the meeting dissatisfied, primarily due to the lack of discussion on the critical issue of power rotation among regions. Obi and his camp insist that the presidency should remain in the south for the 2027 elections, while northern figures, particularly Atiku Abubakar, are viewed as strong contenders.

The communiqué did not address whether Atiku would step aside for a southern candidate or if Obi would accept a vice-presidential role. Obi's silence during the summit and his subsequent actions, including playing tennis, were interpreted as subtle expressions of his dissatisfaction with the proceedings.
