Why we defected to ADC — Ex-Lagos PDP chairman, other chieftains

Retired Capt. Tunji Shelle, former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, and other party stalwarts have officially resigned from the PDP to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Citing gross indiscipline and endless crises within the PDP, Shelle, along with Abimbola Ogunkelu, Chief Muritala Ashorobi, Tai Benedict, Chief Niyi Adams, and Rahman Owokoniran, received affirmation at an ADC ceremony in Lagos. Shelle expressed frustration with the PDP leadership, particularly accusing Minister Nyesom Wike of hijacking the party and working with the ruling APC.

He believes the ADC has the capacity to challenge the APC in the 2023 elections. Other defectors echoed Shelle's sentiments, with Owokoniran stating that the PDP is "gone" and the ADC presents an opportunity to make a real difference in Nigeria.

They are urging Nigerians to join their movement and support.
