Wike Launches N500 Million Fund for Late Senator's Family

On Thursday night, Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, announced a N500 million support fund for the family of the late Senator Mpigi during a tribute held in Port Harcourt. Wike emphasized that political associations should extend support to the families of deceased lawmakers beyond mere tributes, stating that forming a committee for burial is insufficient.

He expressed his commitment to not abandon the family left behind by the late senator. The Rivers State Rainbow Coalition will help sustain the legacy of the deceased.

Wike acknowledged Mpigi's loyalty and solidarity during challenging political moments and noted that the support fund would establish a foundation for the family, providing long-term assistance. He commended Mpigi's contributions to the Ogoni people and highlighted the late lawmaker's significant role in establishing the Federal University of Environmental Technology in Ogoni.
