Wike Leads Condolence Visit to Late Senator Mpigi's Family

On a condolence visit to London, Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, expressed sympathy to the family of the late Senator Barinada Mpigi, who died on February 19, 2026, at the age of 64. Wike described Mpigi's death as a significant loss not only to the Ogoni people but to the entire Rivers State.

During the visit, Wike was accompanied by his two sons, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhul, and other notable figures including Allwel Onyesoh, Olaka Nwogu, and members of the People's Democratic Party. Wike assured the family that they would ensure a befitting burial for the deceased.

He acknowledged the emotional burden on Mpigi's wife, Patricia, and highlighted the late senator's role as a strong political pillar in Rivers State.
