Wike-Backed PDP Faction Rejects Ibadan Summit Outcomes

A faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, supported by Nyesom Wike, has publicly rejected the declaration from the Ibadan Summit. The faction, led by Prof.

Abdulrahman Akinoso and Dr. Abiola Olaonipekun, stated they neither participated in nor endorsed the summit's outcomes.

Hazeem Gbolarumi, a former deputy governor, emphasized that the faction had no prior knowledge of the gathering. The faction criticized the summit for lacking constitutional backing and dismissed the agreement to adopt a single presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

They stressed that they do not recognize any organization within the PDP at either the national or state level that approved participation in the summit. Furthermore, the faction rejected claims of an alliance with the African Democratic Congress and maintained that decisions of such magnitude should be made within the party's constitutional framework.

They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening internal party structures rather than pursuing what they termed a premature coalition, cautioning against misinformation linking them to the Ibadan declaration.
