Wike's PDP Faction Elects Abdulrahman Akinoso as Oyo Chair

A faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Nyesom Wike elected Abdulrahman Akinoso as the Oyo State chairman during a state congress held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan over the weekend. The congress commenced around 12:30 PM and was marked by a heavy security presence.

Akinoso, a lecturer in the Department of Food Technology at the University of Ibadan, was affirmed as the chairman alongside other executive members, including Abiola Olaonipekun as secretary, Latifah Latifu as woman leader, and Adelek as youth leader. Akinoso urged party members to set aside internal differences and focus on strengthening party unity and mobilizing membership in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

He emphasized the importance of the upcoming membership registration exercise aimed at expanding the PDP's grassroots base across the state. The congress was attended by representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Akinoso's immediate focus will be on ensuring the party's success in future elections.
