Wike's Faction Rejects Makinde's PDP Caretaker Committee

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Nyesom Wike has rejected a meeting convened by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, which appointed a 13-member caretaker committee. This decision was made during the PDP's 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

The motion to appoint the committee was moved by Edo State PDP Chairman Toni Aziegbemi and seconded by Clement Fagboyede. The interim national working committee includes members such as Alhaji Hamza Akuyam and Dr.

Daniel Woyenikuro. Wike's faction described the NEC meeting as unauthorized and dismissed the appointment of the interim committee as baseless and lacking legal standing.

Makinde, however, insisted that the interim national working committee was lawfully constituted and met the required quorum. The faction supporting Wike also expressed its commitment to the struggle against the decisions made by Makinde's faction, emphasizing the need for independence from the National Electoral Commission (INEC).
