Wike's PDP Faction Launches New Executives in Ondo

A faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, supported by Nyesom Wike, inaugurated its executive committee on Tuesday in Akure. Olaniyi Ogungbuji was elected as the chairman, with Adebiyi Abiodun Philip as the state secretary.

The faction's leadership emphasized the need for unity among party members to strengthen the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ogungbuji urged members to set aside internal differences and focus on mobilizing support for the party.

He highlighted the importance of unity for electoral success and the creation of a conducive political atmosphere in Ondo State. The faction's congress included various elected officials, such as Akinwamid Adedeji (deputy chairman) and Barrister Clement Adefemi (legal adviser).

However, Dupe Aisida, leading a rival faction, rejected the legitimacy of the congress, labeling it a "bundle of confused politicians." Wand Ajayi, the state public secretary of the rejected faction, criticized the congress for lacking proper representation and adherence to PDP's constitutional processes.
