Wike Challenges PDP Faction to Prove Leadership Claims

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, issued a challenge to a rival faction within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during a live media chat in Abuja. He urged the faction to prove its claim to leadership by opening an official PDP bank account and secretariat.

Wike accused party leaders of misleading Nigerians and ignoring court rulings regarding the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP. He specifically called out Tanimu Turaki and other members of the opposing camp, suggesting that they should allow Turaki, a senior advocate in Nigeria, to open the account publicly.

Wike argued that no financial institution would recognize an account opened by the rival faction due to a lack of legal backing and required party documents. He warned against attempts to establish illegal party offices in the capital, stating that any such actions would be met with legal consequences.

Wike reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and order in the Federal Capital Territory and insisted that the court's judgment on the leadership dispute should not be ignored.
