Wike Denies Endorsing Candidates for Rivers Elections

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, clarified that he has not endorsed any individual for the upcoming elections in Rivers State. Speaking at a meeting with stakeholders from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, Wike cautioned against the rush to endorse candidates, as it could lead to internal divisions.

He expressed disappointment in certain individuals who, after receiving appointments, have criticized leadership, labeling such behavior as a failure of character. Wike emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among stakeholders, warning against external forces that seek to create discord.

He dismissed rumors of private endorsements for local offices, asserting that his public and private positions remain consistent. Wike reaffirmed his support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the current president, and stressed the need for transparency in political dealings.

He commended the council chairmen and elder leadership for their efforts in bringing stakeholders together.
