Wike Rejects Private Endorsements for Rivers Politics

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, addressed rumors regarding private endorsements for upcoming political contests in Rivers State during a joint meeting in Abuja on Monday night. He emphasized that decisions regarding endorsements will be made collectively by the elders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and not by individuals.

Wike cautioned against rushing to endorse candidates, warning that such actions could create divisions within the party. He highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration among stakeholders, stating that external actors should not be allowed to sow discord.

Wike expressed disappointment in individuals who benefit from appointments but later criticize the leadership, labeling such actions as failures of character. He reiterated that there would be no endorsements at the state level until a meeting of party elders occurs, and he confirmed that the current official position does not endorse any candidates, including Bola Tinubu of the APC.
