Wike Criticizes Fubara for Obtaining Reelection Form

Nyesom Wike remarked that Fubara should not have obtained a reelection form, highlighting that Fubara's recent decision to withdraw from the governorship primary is consistent with an agreement reached among political stakeholders. Wike noted that this agreement included the withdrawal of impeachment threats against Fubara and a consensus that he would not pursue a second term in office.

Wike expressed that it was not surprising that Fubara withdrew, as he should not have collected the nomination form in the first place. The Minister maintained that obtaining the nomination form complicates efforts to restore stability in Rivers State.

Despite interventions from stakeholders, Wike suggested that Fubara's earlier actions did not reflect the spirit of the reconciliation process. Fubara announced his withdrawal from the governorship primary, stating that the decision was made in consultation with interests aimed at peace, unity, and stability in Rivers State.
