Amadi: Fubara Lacks Political Leverage in Rivers State

Sam Amadi, the former chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), commented on the political landscape in Rivers State, asserting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara does not possess the necessary political leverage to effectively confront his opponents. Amadi made these remarks on Monday, following Fubara's preference for candidacy in the upcoming 2027 elections.

The Progress Congress has reportedly disqualified 32 aspirants who were believed to support Fubara, as stated in a Daily Post report. A screening committee for the 2027 Rivers State Assembly elections, consisting of four members, has cleared 29 serving members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who are loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike.

Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol participated in the APC primaries. In response to inquiries from journalists, Fubara declined to comment on the screening exercise, stating "no comment" before leaving the venue.
