This criticism follows Wike's reported dissatisfaction with the outcome of the 2022 presidential primary election, which saw former Vice President Atiku Abubakar lose.

Ehilebo accused Wike of driving prominent figures like Peter Obi and Dave Umahi to leave the PDP, leading to internal strife. The chieftain expressed disappointment in Wike's actions, stating that they have torn the party apart and undermined its integrity.
