Wike Orders Arrests and Demolitions on Embassy Lands

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has taken decisive action against illegal land occupation in Abuja, specifically targeting properties on land allocated to embassies. During an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects, Wike discovered that individuals had unlawfully taken over land designated for diplomatic missions, including those from Thailand, Bulgaria, Syria, Somalia, Serbia, Montenegro, Japan, Austria, Switzerland, Senegal, Palestine, and Liberia.

He emphasized that such land invasions cannot be tolerated and directed the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to remove the unauthorized structures. Wike confirmed that Alhaji Kabiru Sahara has been arrested and will face prosecution as part of ongoing police investigations.

The FCDA has begun notifying the diplomatic missions regarding the illegal occupation of their allocated plots. This action is part of a broader effort to maintain the integrity of land use in the FCT, which includes various ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja.
