Wike Commits to Reclaiming Diplomatic Lands in Abuja

On Thursday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to strengthening its relationship with the European Union (EU) while outlining steps to recover diplomatic lands in Abuja that have allegedly been encroached upon and illegally occupied. Wike made these remarks during a courtesy visit from Gautier Mignot, the EU Ambassador to Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation amid evolving global challenges and highlighted the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and the EU. Wike noted that the Federal Government would sustain engagement with EU member states to consolidate existing partnerships.

He also mentioned that the FCT administration has commenced the recovery of properties allocated to EU member countries that have been unlawfully occupied by land grabbers. Recent efforts have included the removal of illegal structures, with a formal communication to affected countries regarding the restoration of ownership.
