Wike Urges Professional Bodies to Attract Development

On Tuesday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, challenged professional bodies in Nigeria to stop their frequent public criticisms of the government and instead focus on attracting tangible development to their institutions. Speaking in Abuja during a courtesy visit from a delegation led by Albert Akpomudji, the Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Wike stated that those in leadership positions should not occupy their roles while continuously criticizing the government.

He emphasized that constructive engagement with the government would yield better results than mere criticism. Wike noted that the current administration is nearing completion of an annex building for the Body of Benchers and has made significant progress on access roads around the Nigerian Law School and EFCC Academy.

Akpomudji commended the FCT administration for its infrastructural transformation in Abuja, particularly projects benefiting the legal profession, and stressed the need for collaboration among the executive, legislature, and judiciary to strengthen democratic institutions and improve access to justice in Nigeria.
