Williams Sisters Team Up for U.S. Open Doubles Match

Serena and Venus Williams are set to compete together in the women's doubles tournament at the U.S. Open in New York for the first time in four years.

They will face the team of Maya Joint, who previously defeated Serena at Wimbledon, and Hao-Ching Chan in the first round. Serena, 44, returned to tennis this year after a four-year hiatus but suffered a knee injury during her match against Joint, which led to her withdrawal from a planned doubles match with Venus, 46, at the All England Club.

The Williams sisters have a successful history at the U.S. Open, having won the title in 1999 and 2009, with a record of 27-7 in their nine appearances.

Their last match together at the U.S. Open was in 2022, where they lost in the first round.

Venus recently lost her 26th singles match at the U.S. Open to Sofia Kenin, marking her 15th consecutive defeat in singles and raising questions about her future in tennis.
