Winner Emerges in Kano Re-run Election as APC, NNPP Lock Horns

The Kano re-run election saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerge victorious, with Garba Gwarmai defeating the New Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate Yusuf Maigado. The supplementary poll was conducted after the initial election was declared inconclusive due to a slim margin.

In a separate state assembly election, NNPP candidate Ali Hassan Kiyawa won against the APC candidate Ahmad Muhammad Kadamu. The NNPP accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of manipulation.

The political battle between the APC and NNPP in Kano has intensified, with both parties aiming for power. The NNPP has alleged extreme violence and disruption by armed thugs in several polling units, leading to the cancellation of the Bagwai Constituency rerun election.

The APC, led by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, is seeking to maintain its influence in the state against the NNPP, led by Rabiu Kwankwaso.
