Abuja International Marathon to Offer $80,000 Prize in December Debut

The Abuja International Marathon is scheduled to debut on December 17, 2022, offering a substantial $80,000 prize for the winner. The event, organized by Femi Abegunde, aims to attract 60 elite runners from around the world to join local runners.

The marathon seeks to emulate the success of marathons in global commercial cities like London and New York, with the goal of promoting Abuja as a tourist destination and economic hub. Notably, the event is expected to benefit various sectors, including hotels, restaurants, taxi drivers, retail businesses, and more.

Representatives from the Nigerian FCT Ministry, including Sen. Ayo Akinyelure, are actively involved in the event's organization.
