Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election by 66,252 Votes

In the Osun governorship election held on Saturday, Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party secured a decisive victory with 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 444,815 votes. This resulted in a winning margin of 66,252 votes for Adeleke, who won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas.

The election was significant not only for its outcome but also for its political implications. President Bola Tinubu, despite the APC's loss, was viewed as a winner for allowing a free and fair electoral process, which he publicly supported.

He intervened when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission froze the Osun State government's bank accounts shortly before the election, emphasizing the need for state institutions to remain apolitical. Following Adeleke's victory, Tinubu congratulated him and acknowledged the election's reflection of the people's will, which is crucial in a country where electoral credibility is often questioned.
