Oyinlola Criticizes Adeleke's Defection to Accord Party

Former Osun State Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola expressed his disappointment with Governor Ademola Adeleke for failing to include key stakeholders in the decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election. In an interview on Frontline, a current affairs program on Eagle 102.5 FM, Oyinlola revealed that he had previously discussed alternative political platforms with Adeleke and his brother, Deji, including APGA, NNPP, ADP, and ACCORD, advocating for the Accord Party as the most appealing option for voters.

Oyinlola's comments followed his public endorsement of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, alongside other PDP chieftains. He clarified that the group was not abandoning the PDP but believed the endorsement was necessary for the state's progress.

Oyinlola noted that they anticipated potential issues within the PDP and had planned to meet after Adeleke's return from abroad to discuss their next steps, expressing surprise at learning of Adeleke's resignation via social media.
