El-Rufai's Wife Denies ICPC Wiretapping Allegations

Hadiza El-Rufai, the wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly responded to allegations made by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding the seizure of wiretapping equipment from their Abuja residence. The ICPC claimed to have recovered electronic devices capable of tapping conversations during a search executed on February 19, following a warrant issued on February 18.

Hadiza El-Rufai refuted these claims, stating that the items taken included outdated personal devices and bank tokens, not wiretapping equipment. She emphasized that the allegations are politically motivated and false.

Their son, Moham El-Rufai, also described the claims as untrue and insisted that the ICPC's actions were lawful. The ICPC has filed a suit in the Federal Capital Territory High Court, seeking to dismiss a N1 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by the El-Rufai family.
