Nigerian Discos Set to Exceed N2 Trillion Revenue Mark by Year-End

Nigerian Discos, particularly Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (Disco), are poised to surpass a revenue milestone of N2 trillion by the end of 2025, having already collected N1.51 trillion in the first 8 months. This significant increase in revenue, as reported by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), reflects a turnaround in the financial performance of the power distribution segment.

The improved revenue collection is primarily driven by adjustments in electricity tariffs, especially for customers receiving a minimum of 20 hours of power supply daily. Despite past struggles with weak collections and debts, recent data indicates a positive shift in the financial flow within the electricity value chain.

Key entities involved in the sector include Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Generation Companies (GenCos).
