Dependence on God Essential Amid Nigeria's Poverty Crisis

During the 2026 Ibadan District Convocation of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Reverend Solomon Wada addressed the pressing issues of poverty, squalor, and insecurity affecting many Nigerians. He emphasized that the need to depend on God for succour and provision has become indisputable.

Wada attributed the challenges faced by Nigerians to the belief that success can be achieved without divine assistance, which has led to struggles with poverty, pain, and disappointment. He noted that while the physical needs of many Christians are increasing, the means to meet these needs seem to be diminishing.

Wada criticized the tendency of individuals to pursue their wants rather than their essential needs, stating, “God did not promise to satisfy our wants, but our needs.” He concluded by affirming that those who seek God and His righteousness will have all things added unto them, referencing Psalm 107:9.
