Woman Remanded for Assaulting 15-Year-Old Daughter

A woman has been remanded in custody following allegations of assaulting her 15-year-old daughter in the Ipaja area of Lagos State. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency confirmed the woman's arrest after a viral video surfaced online, showing the alleged incident.

The agency acted promptly upon receiving reports, activating their response protocol. The 15-year-old survivor was rescued by the Child Protection Unit of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and is currently receiving appropriate care and support services.

The suspect was arrested by the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps and taken to the Ipaja police station, where the case is under investigation by the Family Support Unit of the Nigeria Police Force. The case was charged in court on April 30, 2026, at the Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos, and the suspect is currently held at Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance stance on child abuse.
