Woman Remanded for Pouring Hot Water on Niece

Taiwo Adeoy, a 45-year-old woman, has been remanded at the Ijebu Ode Correctional Centre following charges of pouring hot water on her 13-year-old niece, Modinat Adeoy, which resulted in grievous bodily injuries. The incident took place on April 13, 2026, at approximately 15:30 hours in the Odomogun area of Ijebu Imushin.

According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command, the police responded promptly to the report and conducted preliminary investigations that revealed the severity of the injuries inflicted on the victim. Modinat Adeoy was immediately transferred to a medical facility for treatment due to severe burns across parts of her body.

Following her arrest, Taiwo Adeoy was arraigned in the magistrate court in Ijebu Imushin and subsequently remanded pending the fulfillment of bail conditions set at N3 million. The police command condemned the act of violence and abuse against children, reiterating its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society.
