Canadian Woman Gives Birth While Asleep, Baby Found Safe

Carolina Moreno, a Canadian woman, experienced an extraordinary childbirth incident when she unknowingly gave birth while asleep. The hospital had induced her labor after testing positive for Group B Streptococcus, which poses health risks to newborns.

After receiving an epidural for pain management, Moreno drifted off to sleep. The dramatic moment unfolded when a nurse entered the room and was unable to detect the baby's heartbeat.

Upon further examination, the nurse discovered the baby, who was face down beneath a blanket, having already been delivered silently. The newborn showed no immediate signs of distress, which initially caused panic in the room.

Medical staff quickly stimulated the baby, leading to a first cry that brought immense relief. Experts later confirmed that the infant remained beneath the blanket for several minutes before discovery.

Despite the unusual circumstances, both mother and child were found to be healthy. Moreno described the experience as overwhelming and traumatic, noting that neither she nor her husband realized the baby had been born while she was asleep.
