Women Affairs Minister Advocates for Local Governance in Abuja

On a significant occasion in Abuja, Hajiya Imaan Ibrahim Suleiman, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, addressed a forum of local government chairmen at the Hilton Hotel. The event focused on strengthening local government leadership and enhancing social protection delivery in Nigeria.

Minister Suleiman highlighted the critical role local governments play as the closest tier of governance to the grassroots, emphasizing that no woman, child, or vulnerable citizen should be left behind. She reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritizes social inclusion, poverty alleviation, and women's empowerment.

The minister introduced the flagship initiative, the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention (RHSII 774), aimed at empowering vulnerable groups and strengthening community-based social protection mechanisms nationwide. She urged local government chairmen to intensify efforts in community sensitization and enrollment to ensure eligible citizens access government interventions.

The minister also noted the importance of credible data for effective social registration and the need for collaboration to bridge gaps affecting marginalized populations.
