Women Protest Violence by Destroying Security Checkpoint

In Gashish, a community in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, women protested by destroying a security checkpoint due to ongoing violence and killings. This protest was triggered by a recent attack on Sunday night, where gunmen killed four individuals and injured five others in Gashish, alongside a separate assault in Bachi that left two dead and several injured.

Community members expressed their frustration, stating that despite the presence of security operations, they feel unprotected and vulnerable to repeated violence. Dachung, a protester, highlighted the tragic loss of family members, including children and husbands, while Nanci Gyang emphasized that security personnel often arrive after attacks have occurred.

Community leader Chundung Bot noted a significant loss of confidence in the security presence and called on the government and relevant authorities to take urgent steps to restore peace in the area.
