Women in Media Advocates for Gender Justice in Lagos

During the 15th International Women's Day Summit held at the LCCI Event Hall in Ikeja, Lagos, the women's advocacy group, Women in Media, emphasized the need for collaboration to dismantle structural barriers that hinder women's access to justice. The summit, themed "Give Gain: Dismantle Structural Barriers to Equal Justice," featured notable attendees including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi.

Dr. Ogechi Nwokedi, President of Women Optometrists Nigeria, highlighted the critical link between vision care and justice, noting that 2.2 billion people globally suffer from visual problems, with 55% being women.

She pointed out that in Nigeria, 24 million people experience vision loss, which limits their opportunities. Rosemari Akola, Director of Commercial Communications at Renew Central, stressed the importance of investing in women and girls for societal advancement.

The event concluded with the presentation of the Life Matron Award to distinguished leaders, including Amb. Dr.

Rosalind Adedoyin Amangbo.
