HerStory of Nigeria Project Inspires Schoolgirls' Education

The HerStory of Nigeria project, led by Dr Oludamola Adebowale, aims to inspire schoolgirls by preserving the history of Nigerian women. During the third edition of the project held at St Jude Cathedral Church, Ebute Metta, Lagos, over a hundred girls participated in an educational program focused on history.

Adebowale stated that the initiative seeks to document and promote the stories of remarkable Nigerian women, providing young girls with role models to inspire leadership and national development. He lamented the historical neglect of women's contributions to nation-building and stressed that understanding history is crucial for addressing Nigeria's current challenges.

Adebowale called on governments to implement policies that empower girls through education, advocating for qualitative and quantitative improvements in the educational system. The initiative is expected to extend to federal schools across Nigeria next year, contingent on funding and logistics.
