76ers Begin Extension Talks with Jaylen Brown

The Philadelphia 76ers are now permitted to initiate contract extension discussions with Jaylen Brown following the start of the NBA’s extension period on Sunday. This marks the team's first opportunity to secure the All-Star small forward for the future.

Brown is set to earn $57,721,049 this season and will receive $65,622,594 in the 2028-29 season as part of a three-year extension he signed with the Boston Celtics. He is eligible to sign a one-year maximum deal potentially worth $69 million, contingent on the 2029-30 NBA salary cap.

The 76ers plan to take a cautious approach regarding an offer. Should they decide against an extension this offseason, Brown will be able to sign a three-year extension at a higher price than what he could receive as a free agent in 2025.

Brown, who was traded to Philadelphia this summer after ten seasons with Boston, finished sixth in last season's MVP voting and is expected to play a crucial role in the 76ers' quest for their first NBA championship in over four decades.
