Nigerian Army and Contractors Seek Settlement Over Unpaid Rents

The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has provided a new opportunity for three indigenous houseboat contractors—Peaches Integrated Services Limited, Etucom Integrated Services Limited, and Godsam Industrial Services Limited—and the Nigerian Army to amicably resolve a dispute regarding 33 months of unpaid rental services. Justice Stephen Pam adjourned the case until October 22, 2026, for the parties to report on the progress of their settlement discussions.

The plaintiffs are seeking an order for the payment of outstanding rents and the release of their boats for maintenance. During the court session, Mr. Reuben Wanogho, representing the plaintiffs, indicated that the Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, had proposed a settlement.

However, I.K. Diri, counsel for the first defendant, claimed he was unaware of this proposal.

The situation has led to protests by workers from the affected companies, who are facing financial hardships due to the non-payment, prompting appeals for intervention from President Bola Tinubu.
