Nigeria Poised for Mixed 4x100m Relay Success in Botswana

World Athletics has tipped Nigeria as a strong contender for glory in the mixed 4x100m relay at the upcoming World Relay Championships scheduled for May 2-3 in Gaborone, Botswana. The organization highlighted Nigeria's recent record-breaking performance, where the quartet of Chidera Ezeakor, Maria Omokw, Jame Emmanuel, and Jennif Chukwuka set a new African record of 41.44 seconds.

This achievement has positioned Nigeria firmly within the top 24 countries required for participation in the World Relay. The competition will feature 24 federations vying for qualification, with the top six teams securing automatic qualification for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest on September 12.

Nigeria's team, bolstered by the potential inclusion of established sprinter Enoch Adegoke, aims to build on their recent successes and challenge traditional sprint powerhouses like Jamaica and Canada. The flexibility in athlete selection may influence the final lineup, as Nigeria seeks to translate its promising performances into success on the world stage.
