World Bank Approves $300 Million For IDPs, Targets Over 7 Million Beneficiaries From Northern Nigeria

The World Bank has approved $300 million to support Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Northern Nigeria, aiming to benefit over 7 million people. The initiative focuses on an integrated development strategy to help IDPs and host communities build resilience.

The ongoing conflict and insecurity in the region have displaced millions, straining local infrastructure and services. The SOLID Project, building on the previous World Crisis Recovery Project, aims to address the challenges of protracted displacement by providing emergency relief and promoting stability, resilience, and inclusive growth.

The project is expected to benefit millions, including an estimated 2 million IDPs, through a coordinated approach involving all levels of government and international partners. The World Bank Country Director for Nigeria highlighted the project's potential to shift from crisis response to long-term development in Northern Nigeria.
