FIFA Removes Referee Rob Dieperink from World Cup Roster

FIFA has decided to remove Rob Dieperink, a 38-year-old Dutch referee, from its roster for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, which commences on June 11, 2026. This decision follows Dieperink's arrest in the United Kingdom last month concerning allegations of sexual assault involving a teenage boy.

Although the police investigated the matter, they did not charge Dieperink with any crime, and the case was closed due to insufficient evidence. Dieperink has stated that he fully cooperated with the police inquiry and expressed his deep sadness over the false accusations.

He provided complete transparency during the investigation, which he claims disproved the allegations within two weeks. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) expressed disappointment over FIFA's decision not to appoint Dieperink for the World Cup, emphasizing their belief in his impeccable character and the importance of sharing his narrative regarding the wrongful accusations.
