Rodri Named Player of the Tournament at 2026 World Cup

Rodri was crowned the Player of the Tournament after leading Spain to victory in the 2026 World Cup held at the New York/New Jersey stadium. The 30-year-old midfielder, playing for Manchester City, excelled by breaking the all-time completed pass record with 692 successful passes out of 729 attempts, achieving a 94% completion rate.

He also recorded 919 high-intensity runs, the highest of any player in the tournament. Despite Lionel Messi scoring eight goals and providing four assists, Rodri's performance secured him the top individual honor.

Spain's success was further highlighted by Pau Curbasi winning the Young Player of the Year award and Unai Simon receiving the Golden Glove trophy for his outstanding goalkeeping, having conceded only one goal and kept seven clean sheets. This marks the second consecutive World Cup where the winning team has swept all three individual awards, following Argentina's achievement in 2022.
