Oluremi Tinubu Calls for Accurate Understanding of Nigeria's Security

On Wednesday, Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, called on the international community to stop misrepresenting Nigeria's security crisis during a meeting with former Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, at the State House in Abuja. She highlighted the importance of including Nigerian security agencies in upcoming interfaith dialogue efforts.

Tinubu's appeal came as part of preparations for a global peace forum scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah. She criticized external observers for attributing Nigeria's security issues solely to religious and ethnic conflicts without proper verification.

Tinubu commended Welby for recognizing that Nigeria's challenges should be addressed by Nigerians themselves. She also discussed the role of the church in promoting peace and social behavior.

Additionally, she received a briefing from Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, on initiatives aimed at closing the gender digital divide in Nigeria.
